Brighton Manager Roberto De Zerbi Insists Moises Caicedo Will Not Be Sold This Winter
Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has stated that he has no intention of allowing Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo to leave the club in the January transfer window.
The 19 year old Caicedo joined Brighton from Ecuadorian top flight side Independiente del Valle in August and is yet to make an appearance for the Seagulls this season.
De Zerbi has been keen to protect Caicedo’s development and insists that the youngster will not be sold this winter.
Why Roberto De Zerbi Wants to Protect Moises Caicedo
De Zerbi has hinted that he wants to help Caicedo realise his potential away from the pressures of the transfer window. He believes that developing the player in the right way is essential.
- Underserved – De Zerbi believes that Caicedo is still relatively inexperienced and lacked sufficient top-flight games in Ecuador before he joined Brighton, something that he hopes to correct.
- Natural Development – A lack of appearances so far this season should not be taken as a sign that Caicedo is not progressing, as keeping him at Brighton is likely to allow him to develop naturally.
- Long-Term Plans – It is clear that De Zerbi is planning for the long-term with his team, and he is unlikely to sacrifice the progress of Caicedo for a quick sale in the transfer window.
It seems that Caicedo will remain with Brighton for the time being, and Roberto De Zerbi is adamant that the 19 year old will continue to progress with the club.
