LIB Director Stand Accused in Kanjuruhan Tragedy, Here is the Full List of Other Accused
Last week, the Head of the Indonesian Learning Institution (LIB), Dr. Ismail Mubarok, was charged as a suspect in the Kanjuruhan tragedy. It is now confirmed that a total of five people are to face trial in the case.
List of Accused in the Kanjuruhan Tragedy
The accused are as follows:
- Dr. Ismail Mubarok, LIB Director
- Supriyadi, former custodian
- Raden Sriti, LIB department head for research and development
- Ramlah,LIB department head for finance
- Miftahul Jannah, LIB security personnel
Dr. Ismail Mubarok and the four other accused have been indicted with neglecting the security of LIB’s Kanjuruhan campus, resulting in the tragedy that occurred there. If found guilty, they all will face up to three years in prison.
The Kanjuruhan tragedy, which took place in November 2020, left five students, one security guard, and one faculty member dead. Thousands of LIB students, faculty members, and alumni have since taken to the streets in protest, demanding justice for the victims. With the filing of charges, it appears that the days of impunity may finally be over.
The trial of the five accused is due to start on 1 April 2021, and is expected to be closely monitored by all interested parties. We will keep you updated on any new developments in the case.
